OpenProvider Domain Billing
+ BillingServ

Automate domain registration billing, renewals, and customer management for your OpenProvider reseller business. No manual invoicing. No chasing payments. Just billing that runs itself.

What is OpenProvider domain billing?

OpenProvider is a European domain registrar built for resellers. It gives you access to over 1,900 TLDs at cost price through a simple membership model, with no volume tiers or markup fees. Hosting companies, web agencies, and domain resellers use it to buy wholesale and sell on to their own customers.

What OpenProvider doesn't include is a way to bill your end customers. You buy domains at cost, mark them up, and sell to your clients. But the invoicing, renewal reminders, and payment collection all fall to you. BillingServ fills that gap, connecting to the OpenProvider API to handle the entire billing side automatically.

How BillingServ powers your OpenProvider billing

BillingServ connects directly to the OpenProvider API. When a customer purchases a domain, BillingServ registers it through your OpenProvider account and generates the invoice. As domains approach expiry, renewal invoices go out automatically with payment reminders sent before the due date.

If a customer doesn't renew, you know before the domain lapses. Your customers get a branded portal to manage their domains, pay invoices, and keep their contact details up to date. You get a clear view of upcoming renewals and outstanding invoices without chasing anything manually.

The right fit

Billing software built around your reseller business

Most billing platforms are designed for hosting companies managing a wide range of products. If domains are your main focus, you end up paying for a lot of tooling that isn't relevant to what you actually sell. BillingServ is straightforward by design. It handles domain registration billing, renewal cycles, and customer management without the overhead built for a different kind of business.

The OpenProvider integration works out of the box. Setup is quick, the interface is clean, and the pricing is flat with no surprises as your customer base grows. For most domain resellers, the defaults handle everything. If you need something custom, the API is there when you're ready.

No per-module licensing fees

BillingServ includes the OpenProvider integration in all plans. No add-on costs, no extra charge for the connector.

Modern, clean interface

Not a legacy admin panel from 2005. Something that looks and works the way people expect software to today.

API-first billing

BillingServ's API lets you automate anything not already handled out of the box. Build custom workflows when you need them.

Straightforward flat pricing

Plans from £12/month with no hidden fees, no per-transaction markup, and no surprise costs as you scale.

Connection checklist

Set up OpenProvider with a test workflow

Validate the connection against a real product and invoice before routing live customer orders through it.

1. Prepare the provider

Prepare reseller credentials, enabled extensions and your intended domain prices. Check the provider account requirements for the registration or transfer you want to offer.

2. Configure BillingServ

Review Domain Settings and connect the registrar. Keep registration, renewal and transfer prices distinct; confirm the customer contact data required by the selected extension.

3. Verify the outcome

Test availability and checkout using a suitable provider-supported environment or a deliberately approved test purchase. Confirm the registrar operation result independently from the invoice. A search result is not a completed registration.

When the result is not what you expected

If an order is paid but the domain is not registered, inspect availability changes, contact validation and the registrar response. Do not resubmit a potentially chargeable operation until you know whether the first request succeeded. Review transfer status and renewal ownership separately.

Record the order or invoice reference, time and sanitised provider error. Keep API keys, tokens and customer payment details out of screenshots and support messages.

Connect it to the wider workflow

Provider fulfilment has its own state and validation requirements. Keep it distinct from customer billing and agree how staff handle an incomplete external order.
